Does Prison Work?
Does prison earn? This question could be answered by considering the functions of prisons. In the non-so-distant past, prisons were intended to launch away offenders so that the rest of indian lodge could go on living in a crime-free environment. This is the essence of the social protective covering theory of punishing offenders. According to Macionis (2006), social protection solely refers to the act of rendering an offender incapable of further offenses temporarily through imprisonment or permanently by execution. In other words, what matters is for offenders to be separated from nine so that society could be protected from criminal activities the method (incarceration or execution) is not important. If the function of prisons is only to incarcerate offenders for the purpose of preventing them from committing further crimes temporarily, thusly it is easy to say that, yes, it works, as long as prisons are constructed in such a way as to make escape impossible.

This is where prisons were found to have failed. History is replete with tales of released inmates who were forced to live in the streets because even their relatives would not take them in, and nobody could come about it in their hearts to trust them with any decent job.
